Platinum Tube Manufacturing Processes
After high-purity platinum is cold-rolled and pressed into sheets, it undergoes solid solution annealing. The material is then subjected to mechanical drawing, shaping, and polishing to produce platinum tubes. The detailed processes are as follows:
- Raw Material Purification: High-purity platinum (typically ≥99.95%) is further refined via electrolysis or chemical methods to remove impurities.
- Melting & Casting: The platinum is melted under high temperature in an inert gas atmosphere and cast into rods or billets.
- Hot Working (Hot Rolling/Extrusion): The billet is heated to a malleable state and formed into a rough tube shape through rolling or extrusion.
- Cold Working (Cold Drawing/Rolling): The tube is gradually drawn or rolled at room temperature, with intermediate annealing to relieve work hardening, achieving precise dimensions.
- Recuit: Annealing in a controlled atmosphere or vacuum restores ductility and eliminates internal stresses.
- Precision Finishing & Surface Treatment: Polishing and ultrasonic cleaning are applied to ensure a flawless surface, critical for high-purity applications (e.g., semiconductors or medical devices).
- Quality Inspection: Spectrometry (composition check), dimensional measurement (micrometer/laser gauging), leak testing, and microstructure analysis (metallography) are conducted to verify compliance.
